Strome Plaid Brooch

Plaid Brooches are the traditional method of fastening the plaid, cloak or shawl at the shoulder. The Penannular is the most ancient style and at one time they became so exaggerated in size and design that a law was passed in Scotland forbidding the pin to protrude beyond the shoulder! The Hunterston Brooch is a reproduction of what is arguably the finest remaining example in Scotland of the artistic ingenuity of the tenth century Celt. The other designs all incorporate eternal interlacings from such sources as Lindisfarne and the Book of Kells. An extensive range of jewellery MADE IN SCOTLAND from Old fashioned Pewter with a plated finish of Palladium (which won’t scratch or tarnish). Inspiration for the designs is taken from many traditional Scottish elements such as Endless Celtic Interlacings (the overs and unders representing the ups and downs of life, and it’s unbroken continuity the symbol of the hope of eternal life). All supplied attractively packaged with general historical notes.
